How to Process your NYSC Call Up Letter

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is an initiative set up by Nigerian government to promote integration, unity and national development. Established in May 22, 1973 by Yakubu Gowon, NYSC aims to foster harmony and unity among youths. To participate in the NYSC scheme, you need to print out your NYSC call up letter and present it at the training ground.

The NYSC call up letter is a document containing vital information about participants. It doubles as a biodata, providing details such as your call up letter, state posted to serve, date to resume at the camp, verification date, among others. Other information included in the letter are your state of origin, gender, institution you attended, course of study, officer in charge and address of your orientation camp.
The letter is usually posted on the NYSC website some days to reporting at the camp. It’s a proof that you are eligible to participate in national service. Prospective corp members need to download and print the call up letter from the NYSC portal.

How to print NYSC call up letter

The method used in printing NYSC call up letter is applicable to all streams and batches. If the printing method changes subsequently, we’ll keep you updated. To print out your call up letter, you’ll need your email address and password. Log on to your dashboard on the NYSC portal to view and print the letter. Here’s how to print your call up letter.

  • Visit the NYSC portal at https://portal.nysc.org.ng.
  • Click on the “Login Here” icon. This will redirect you to another page where you can enter your email address and password.
  • Click on the ‘Print Call Up Letter’ link to access and print your call-up letter.

Note that only prospective corp members that make payment during their online registration are eligible to print their call up letters from the website. If you didn’t pay, you’ll need to go to your previous institution to obtain your letter.

With the surge in the number of COVID cases, prospective corp members (PCMs) will have to complete their NYSC COVID Test Forms. All PCMs and camp officials must undergo COVID-19 test. Only negative people gets admitted into the camp.

Note the following:

  • Anyone who fails to report for service in the service corps as directed in his or her call-up letter and/or refuses to make himself or herself available for service in the service corps shall be prosecuted in line with the provisions of Section 13 sub-section 1(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
  • Also, anyone who is not eligible to participate in the service corps or is not duly issued with a Certificate of National Service or Certificate of Exemption, but so participates or attempts to so participate shall be prosecuted in line with Section 13 sub-section 2(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
  • If you studied in Nigeria, you’ll need to go to camp with the following: Degree/HND Certificates, statement of results, medical certificate of fitness and means of identification from previous institution.
  • If you studied abroad, you will have to come along with the original copies of all your uploaded credentials and travel documents.
  • Medical/veterinary doctors, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, physiotherapists, nurses and public environmental health graduates should bring their professional licenses or certificates of full registration. Their professional bodies issue these certificates.
  • Foreign graduates must ensure that they translate academic paper(s) in other languages to English. You will need to present both versions for verification at the camp.

NYSC Security Tips For Corpers

  • Ensure you lock your doors at all times, especially if you’re living alone.
  • Live close to your primary place of assignment (PPA).
  • Live with other corpers. This will enable adjust quickly to your PPA, aiding a smooth transition.
  • Be vigilant and alert to any danger. Report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station in your vicinity.
  • Inform people about your whereabout. Be careful when given a lift from strangers
  • Don’t stay out late at nights.
  • Don’t flaunt your valuables.
