The National identification number (NIN) is a set of numbers assigned to citizens or legal residents of the country. Asides from it being one of the most recognized means of identification in Nigeria at the moment, it is needed for every transaction in the country. It is required for obtaining a travel passport, a sim card registration and even to get a driver’s license. The applicant’s biometric will be captured using demographic information, which will consist of age, gender, marital status, state of origin, amongst others. Data capturing is carried out in the National identity database to ensure there’s no individual with such existing data. After your capturing is done, the data will be stored and you will be given an eleven(11) digit number. This number can only be assigned to just one individual alone.
