Early Life
The MicMarshal in the person of Abdulmalik Olaoye was born to the family of Mr and Mrs Olaoye in the city Ibadan, the state of Oyo. He is the first of two children and was born on the 27th November, 2002. He is followed by a sweet little sister who is the baby of the house. Abdulmalik Olaoye won’t exactly describe growing up as fun for him really, his father Mr Olaoye was more of an authoritarian, so Abdulmalik as a young child was used to staying indoors. However, there was one thing he learnt from his father and that is discipline which is presently useful in refining him into a responsible adult.
Educational History.
Abdulmalik Olaoye is currently a third-year student of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He started education at a very tender age at The Jewels School, Iwo road, Ibadan where he had his Nursery and Primary Education. He then proceeded to Command Day Secondary School, Odogbo barracks, Ibadan. His father working with the Ministry of Defence was influential to the decision of him being schooled in a military setting. After the completion of his Secondary School education, he applied to Obafemi Awolowo University and was given admission on the first trial to study Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, where he is currently in his third year.

Personal Life
Abdulmalik Olaoye is a Wright, Spoken word artist, Radio Presenter at GREAT FM 94.5, the official campus radio station, Voice over artist, Events Host and MC. Abdulmalik Olaoye is one of the numerous young adults out there whose course of study is influenced by parental factors. Biochemistry hasn’t been what he saw himself as a young child doing as he found no interest in sciences but like most typical Nigerian parents he was “advised” to study sciences and found himself studying Biochemistry after trying for Ife Pharmacy. From a tender age, he figured he is a fan of anything relating to the arts. He always saw himself doing something related to English, Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communication and the likes. He hasn’t allowed parental factors to drive him away from his dreams as he has tried to carve a niche for himself in the Media industry and he is making waves.
The major push that has kept Abdulmalik Olaoye going had been his baby sister. He describes her as a genius, anytime he is reminded of her, it pushes him to do more and forge ahead. He had been inspired to explore many fields by her. He works in the broadcast industry, the radio to be precise and hosts corporate events and parties. He describes his journey in the entertainment industry as fun as he gets to host entertainment interview radio shows which have provided him opportunities to meet new people. In his words “Being on-air gives me a joy I can’t seem to express”.
His vision for life is for lives to be positively affected by the influence of his voice – “to become the oxygen on air”
Career Journey
He noticed he loved writing short stories in primary school and that was where the journey as a writer started. For hosting shows, he just got to realize he derives joy talking, he didn’t expressly know he could host shows until he decided to try it out and he has been doing so excellently for quite some time. He started work at GREAT FM the official Obafemi Awolowo University radio station in March 2021.
Abdulmalik Olaoye recognizes himself as a work in progress as he is not here where he envisions to be, but he isn’t also where he used to be. Before getting to where he is currently he had tried more than one or two fields trying to find that which he excels at. What has gotten him where he is today has been consistency and persistence, he didn’t relent despite the hurdles. He keeps hosting shows in anticipation of the big show that’ll bring him to the peak of his career.
It hasn’t been easy and the major thing he has found challenging being in the entertainment industry is dealing with the set of humans that want a performance from him without paying a dime. Most people would say things like is it not just to talk and while away time and in the industry it doesn’t work that way. What he does and has proven to help in this type of situation is to kindly turn them down and focus on those that value what he does and are ready to pay for his services.

Academics and Work
Combining academics and the pursuit of his career hasn’t been really easy. Working with GREAT FM and still attending lectures is one he has to deal with but has come to understand that no one should suffer for the other and has been able to balance it. Most lectures hold in the early hours of the day, so he fixes his shows for the evening, so they don’t clash. He makes sure to allocate time frames and draw out a to-do list with a view of trying to strike a balance.
Achievements and Recognitions
- Abdulmalik Olaoye has proven to be good at what he does.
- He has over a hundred pieces of write-ups accredited to his name.
- He performs as a spoken word artist at major events on Obafemi Awolowo University campus. He has anchored about 30 live shows, the likes of Energetic, Lights Out and Wild Cruise.
- He hosts two shows weekly on GREAT FM, he is the host for Lórí Ìtàgé (on stage) and Wazobia. He also works with the news department of GREAT FM.
- At the 2018/19 session NASS interfaculty debate he won first runner up.
- He has coached a team of three to win the NASS intrafaculty debate 2019/20 session.
- He also won the TEC poetry challenge in 2019.
