Early life

Linda ikeji was born on the 19th of September, 1980. She is an indigene of Nkwere local government in IMO State. She was born into a family of seven, where she is the second of them. She was raised in a Christian catholic home. Linda began writing at the age of 10. She finished her secondary school education at the age of 17 and enrolled at the University of Lagos at 18, where she studied English Language as opposed to the course she wanted to read; Mass Communication.


Linda graduated from the university in 2004 and started blogging as a hobby in 2006. At that time, the Internet was not as prominent in Nigeria, so she had to make her post at a cyber cafe.

Career

Linda started working at age 17, doing anything from being a waitress, ushering in occasions to modelling and bartending. She began her modelling career in 1998 and gave up in 2005. She was also a fashion columnist for a struggling celebrity magazine, and after two years in the newsroom, she gave up that too.


She came into entertainment as a determined model while studying at Unilag. Linda Ikeji modelled for numerous brands like Rose of Sharon’s label and in some fascinating fashion shows back then. In the year 2004, after she had concluded her university education, she worked hard to enter into the journalism trade, by introducing her media company called Black dove communications, which was a modelling agency and events management outfit.
Linda Ikeji remained within her walls of comfort zone which was modelling, so she chose to be behind the camera by managing an agency instead of being in front of the camera.


The blogging episode began in 2006. She became an active blogger in 2007 using a blogger sub-domain lindaikeji.blogspot.com and later obtained her domain www.lindaikejisblog.com.

She also ventured into online radio broadcasting with its station being operated from the Linda ikeji Media Office.


Linda also open a music platform known as lindaIkeji Music, which was launched on the 21st of November 2016, but became dormant after three months of launch. She also launched a social networking platform named Linda Ikeji Social on the domain name LindaIkejiSocial.com.


Linda ikeji runs a nonprofit project themed “I’d rather be self-made; No thanks. She says in an interview with Hip Tv, that through the project, She assists young girls aged 16-25 who have great business ideas and are willing to venture into entrepreneurship. She gave out the sum of ten million naira in phase 1 of the project.


It took Linda Ifeoma Ikeji about four years of dedication to start making good cash from her blogging career.

Personal Life

Linda is single and is yet to find her Ideal Man which she listed must be a decent guy, God-fearing, very good looking and must be able to support what she does. According to her, she can not date a man younger than she is but can marry a man who doesn’t earn as much as she does.


Linda Ikeji says, she and her son’s father Sholaye Jeremi are not suitable partners. She took to her blog to tell reasons why her relationship with her son’s father whom she met in December 2015, didn’t work out.

Recognition and Awards

In August 2012, Forbes Africa dedicated itself to celebrating African Women that months’ issue. In that issue, Forbes profiled Africa’s 20 Most Prominent Women and the issue featured profiles on two young women: Linda Ikeji and Chibundu Onzo. The name Linda Ikeji is the most searched item by users of Google in Nigeria.


Linda Ikeji was interviewed by BBC on their focus on Africa programme. The interview was aired on September 25, 2012. On the 8th of August 2018, she was among eminent personalities drawn from different countries across multiple disciplines who were conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degree from Trinity International University in Georgia for her outstanding job in Business and Media in Africa.


She has won the award of Best Entertainment Blog by Nigeria Blog Awards NBA and Website of the year by Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards in the year 2013.
