Chief (Dr) Jimoh Ibrahim is a renowned lawyer, businessman, politician and investor in Nigeria. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Global Fleet Group and the Director of National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria ( NICON). He is a well-known philanthropist and a graduate of Law from the Obafemi Awolowo University.

Jimoh Ibrahim had his primary and secondary school education at the Saint John’s school, Igbotako, Ondo State. He studied law at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. He went further to obtain a Masters in Public Administration (MPA), from the same institution after which he attended Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, where he graduated with a combined Master of Laws (LLM) and Masters in International Taxation degree (MIT). He had a record of graduating as one of the best students in his class.

Career

During his time at Obafemi Awolowo University as an undergraduate, Jimoh Ibrahim made a decision to organise seminars on law for all local governments in Nigeria so they could be well informed on how to make their laws. He did this after he discovered that only the federal and state governments made laws.


His fame seemed to have grown because he made a lot of money from organising the seminars across all local governments in Nigeria. He organised several workshops for top government officials involved in law making.

He had his vision set on discovering business opportunities. Along the line, he discovered the government was experiencing challenges recovering its withholding tax from multinational oil companies, then he proposed to help the government recover the billions owed in withholding tax by the multinational oil companies. His proposal was approved and he had a breakthrough by recovering the billions of naira owed while earning a fortune for himself.


Jimoh also worked with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a tax consultant and was among the team from Harvard that championed the tax reforms in Bangladesh.
He started by executing small scale contracts using his father’s bricklaying material, as his father was a bricklayer.


He has investments in several industries; the oil and gas industry, hospitality industry, aviation industry, banking industry, real estate sector, insurance industry, publishing and media industry.


Global Fleet Group is the major company Jimoh uses for his investments. He is also the author of the book ‘Indigenous Governance in Nigeria‘. Mr Jimoh Ibrahim declared his intention to run for Ondo South Senatorial District on the platform of APC in 2022.
