Tolulope Adesua Etom-Wellington professionally and popularly known as Adesua Etomi is a Nigerian actress. She starred in her first feature film “knocking on Heaven’s Door in 2014. She won the Best Actress in a drama award at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in ” Falling’.

Early life

Tolulope Adesua Etomi- Wellington was born in Owerri, Imo State, on the 22nd of February 1986. She is the last child of the three children of her parents. She has an older brother, Tosin Etomi and an older sister, Temitayo Etomi. Adesua is an Edo indigene with her father being a Soldier of Esan descent. Her mother, Eniiwaju Etomi is a Yoruba Woman, a pastor and a Civil Engineer. Etomi attended Corona School in Victoria Island, Lagos, where she joined the Drama Club at the age of 7. She attended Queens College, Lagos for her secondary education before moving to the United Kingdom at the age of 13.


Adesua obtained a diploma in Physical Theatre, Musical Theatre and Performing Arts from the City College Coventry in 2004. After she completed these courses in 2006 with triple distinctions, She went to University of Wolverhampton to study Drama and Performance, graduating with first-class honours.


The actress always had the dream to be an actor. She started participating in drama and theatre in her primary school days when she was just seven. Adesua later ventured into acting career in her university days when she switched her career from the medical line to the theatre.


She participated in theatre productions like The Crucible, Jesus Christ Superstar and Miss Saigon while still a student at the city college.

Career

At 26 years old, and with her acquired qualifications, Adesua Etomi started building a career in the entertainment industry in 2012. She played minor roles until her big break came in 2014 when she was 28, with a significant role in the movie, Knocking on Heaven’s Door. The movie produced by Emem Using was a romantic one.


From that year to date, she has played leading roles in movies and television series. Among her best movies is The Wedding Party, produced in 2016. She starred alongside her husband, Banky W. Although, at that time, they were not engaged yet. She has appeared in other notable films which include A soldier Story in 2015, Out Of Luck in 2015 also and A Couple Of Days in 2016.


Adesua played Sheila in the fourth and fifth seasons of Shuga, a television soap opera about HIV/AIDS prevention. She began starring as Amaka Obiora, an undercover police officer, in LasGidi Cops, which debuted in June 2016 on television. Etomi was also featured on Vogue’s list of 14 global superstars.

Of recent, Adesua Etomi-Wellington has made her entry into music with her first single, So Natural, under the stage name Susu. Adesua’s sonorous voice stuns on the track produced by Cobham’s Asuquo. She sings about the life she shares with her husband, noting that it not only comes natural but is also magical

Personal Life

Adesua Etomi got engaged to Bankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W, in February 2017. The couple held their traditional wedding on the 20th of November and a White wedding on the 27th of November 2017; the latter was held in Cape Town, South Africa.


Early January 2021, Adesua and Banky W had a son named Hazaiah Olusegun Wellington. They both shared the never-before-heard story of their marriage titled Final say, Faith. They shared the story of their marriage and how they lost their twin babies through miscarriage.


While Adesua and Banky remain the centre of attention in Nigeria, it was discovered that both of them attended the same primary school (Corona). Etomi describes her husband as a “Mighty Good Man” who is proof that God is real.
